Kidnapped and sold at four years old, only to be rejected by his adopted family and subjected to torment in the foster care system, he plans his death. The kindness of Sasha, a talented ballerina, sparks hope, and soon, their cautious friendship blossoms into something more. But when Vaughn discovers the identity of his birth parents, solving a lifelong mystery and filling a gaping hole in his heart, he knows he must reconnect with the family he lost, even if it means he must leave the love of his life behind. Review: The Siren's Song by Katelyn Brehm

★★★★☆

Series: Demons Among Us, Book 2

Review:

First, I would like to thank the author for providing me with a free digital review copy of this novel in exchange for an honest review.

Facing the end of her marriage and grieving the death of her beloved grandmother, Lena travels to her grandmother’s house in a small beach town to settle her affairs. She has built a successful yoga studio, and now that she has gotten full ownership back following the dissolution of her marriage, she realizes that her staff is fully capable of running it without her, leaving her feeling unmoored. She visits the beach, where she meets two handsome men. Elias and Niko. Elias invites her to an open mic night, where she finds herself drawn to his song. Elias, who never bothers with relationships, feels the pull in his heart toward Lena, too. But will she accept him if she learns what he is–a siren?

This book will make you crave the ocean air. Katelyn Brehm paints an alluring setting, not only irresistible men. The Siren’s Song is a novella, but there is no shortage of emotion written into the pages. As Lena struggles with grief, broken trust, and feeling unneeded, her relationship with Elias does not feel rushed. Like The Art Collector, the characters are in their forties, a welcome deviation from the general romance novel pool. Bring this novel with you to the beach for a truly atmospheric experience.

Audience: adult
Trigger warnings: none
Recommended for fans of: dark romance, paranormal romance, later in life romance

Publisher's Synopsis:

A woman who’s lost everything. A demon without a care. And a chance encounter that sparks an unwanted passion.

Lena Sommer can’t win. Her marriage is a failure. The yoga studio she founded no longer needs her. And she just lost her grandma, the only family she’s ever known. Alone, grieving, and determined not to repeat the mistakes of her past, she tries to ignore the advances of a rakish singer she meets on the beach. But his carefree nature is infectious, and his mesmerizing voice proves too seductive to resist.

Elias Georgiou has it all—a loving family, the endless ocean, and, most importantly, his independence. Constrained by nothing but the pursuit of pleasure, the last thing he’s interested in is a relationship with any of the countless admirers he charms with his song. Until he meets Lena, and a future with the resilient and courageous woman becomes more tempting than freedom.

Can Lena learn to trust herself and Elias in the face of past betrayal? Or will the enchanted song of a consummate bachelor ruin all hope for a future filled with love?
